SAS & Finnair fly regular flights into Arlanda, the main international airport. There are Avis, Budget and Hertz offices at Arlanda Airport.
Daily domestic flights crisscross the country but an extensive and efficient bus and train system give you the benefit of seeing the country as you travel. Swedish roads are excellent; you do need to be on constant lookout for moose, reindeer and elk. A regular driver’s license is all you need to drive but, to rent a car, you must have an international driver’s license. Motorways are not open to cyclists but there are beautiful, scenic routes especially for cyclists. Women should ask for discounts in Stockholm and Goteborg taxis from 10pm until 6am , usually 20% off the regular fare.
