Lodging abounds for every traveler’s preference, even camping and hosteling. My favorites are; Hotel Martha Bühler, Sennwies 15, FL9497 Triesenberg (phone 41-75-262-57-77, fax 41-75-268-15-20). Frau Tschikof-Bühler was the first female member of the Liechtenstein Ski Team in the Olympics. The rooms are Alpine cozy, with sweeping views of the Alps and the river valley. Breakfasts are nourishing and filling. Have an inexpensive dinner on the vine covered terrace. The Liechtensteiner Rbsti (grated potatoes, cheese, real bacon bits and egg) is a cultural favorite. The vegetable plate is a medley of field fresh veggies in season that will satisfy everyone.
Further up the mountain, some 1600 m. in Malbun, is the Malbuner-Hof, FL9497 Malbun (phone 41-75-263-29-44). Students from all over Europe intern at this lovely retreat nestled in a valley, guarded by the soaring peaks. Snow showers in June are not uncommon! The rooms are spacious, yet have bold, rustic finishes, accompanied by vistas of the meadows and Alps, with heated floors in the full bathrooms. Breakfast buffets will greet you in the morning. The half-plan is a wise choice if you have been on the go every day. The dinners are presented in a refined, continental fashion, featuring several courses, and you will not be disappointed with the chef’s daily menu. On one evening the selection may be fondue, on another it might be roasted meat; all with tempting desserts and fine wine
