Zurich Zoo: A pleasant, well-kept zoo housing more than 350 species from around the world. Located on the Dolder hill, near the Dolder Hotel. Open all year 8-6pm. Adults Sfr 12, kids Sfr6, under 6 free. Restaurant and pleasant gardens with extensive walks. Take Tram 5 to Bellevue, or Tram 6 from the main train station. Zurichbergstrasse 221, phone 251-5411. Plan to spend most of the day - it is a beautiful zoo and you will enjoy lingering at the various animals’ exhibits.

Zurich Toy Museum: Impressive display of toys from
centuries past, including those created by famous toy manufacturer Franz Carl Weber. M-F 2-5pm. Sat 1-4pm Free. Fortunagasse 15 at corner of Rennweg, phone 211-9305.

Technorama: A hands-on science museum in Winterthur, a half-hour car or train trip. Open daily. Don’t miss this one - kids and adults will enjoy it immensely.

Winterthur: This city is famous for its art. Visit the Oskar-Reinhart Foundation Museum, where paintings by Swiss, German and Austrian artists are on display. There is a nice Fine Arts museum in town, The Collegium Musicum (founded in 1629). Also staged here are wonderful concerts. Nearby, visit the formidable Kyburg Castle, just 15 miles northeast of Zurich.
