Turn your hot water heater off or to the lowest setting.
Unplug your computer cables especially your modem from the telephone line.

If you will be travelling long, clear up all food in your fridge and turn it off. If it is going to be a short time, remember do not turn your fridge off, and if possible, clear up all meat before it rots in your fridge.
